Tire Message in Overhead Console

In our 2005 Chrysler Town & Country Touring Minivan, the tire lite on the dashboard came on last night and the following message appeared on the overhead console: "Service Tire System Soon". I filled all the tires to specs, but the light and message remain. The lite on the dash goes out, but the message stays on. Has a tire pressure sensor failed? If so, how does the mechanic know which one? Finally, how much does a tire pressure sensor cost?

Re: Tire Message in Overhead Console

40 at firestone on ours for one. could be sensor batteries are getting low, or just rotated tires. there are some resets like driving over 15 mph for 10 minutes...make sure you check that all tires have 36 psi first...

Re: Tire Message in Overhead Console

Same in our 2002 T&C (started ~2 yrs ago). They have an integral battery that fails after a few years. Must replace the whole module for ~$55 each, plus labor to remove the tire & rebalancing. Some people have posted on a home-made repair using a Radio Shack battery, but quite involved. Many new cars are like this. Wouldn't bother me except the stupid warning chimes everytime you drive and clutters the display. I'm sure not paying ~$400 to replace them every few years.
