Partway through a front end overhaul of my 175k 2001 3.2L Rodeo 4WD, brought on by the need for new brakes, new front drive shaft CV's and realignment.
I would appreciate any tips from experienced members on the following:
- I can't see why I need to remove the steering rack and the SOTF system to get the front axle and driveshafts out (Obviously need to disconnect vacuum and electrical lines from SOTF). Am I missing something?
- Do the front ABS sensors just pull out towards the engine once the two Torx screws are removed? Can I spray them with WD40 to clean/loosen, then clean up with brake cleaner?
- Should I change the front ABS sensors while I have everything apart? (Had very infrequent ABS light for years)
- Should I change the control arm bushings while I am there?
- Should I replace the wheel bearings/races, or just repack them if they seem OK?
- Anything else I should be doing while I have the front end apart to this level?
Thaks in advance!
