Finally Finished Evo 7 WRC Project from Hell

After two months working on and off, I finally finished this thing. I kept screwing up the paint job for various reasons. I finally got a satisfactory finish after stripping and repainting FOUR times! When I finally got done with the decals, I realized I messed up by putting the driver and co-driver's names on reverse. Oh well, I'll get some decals from Mediamix to fix it later.

It's basically out of the box except for some PE parts. I also scratch built the antenas out of stretched sprue since I didn't like the thickness of the stock ones.

Very Very nice and clean. Great built.

I got two questions. The seatbelts, do they all usually attach to the roll cage like that ? and The air scoop on the top, what does that do ?

Thanks, I know they aren't related to you built but i thought someone could answer it.

Oh yea, dont forget to watch F1 later today

Again, nice job

Have you used something to improve adhesion of those particular decals? If not, you could wet them, wait a bit, and then try to lift them carefully and then put them into correct positions. And use some adhesive like Microset or Humbrol DecalFix or whatever is your favourite.

Maybe someone has a spare here? (I've seen the McRae version built, so the Delecour ones hadn't been used. As a matter of fact, I have the Delecour window decals, but they're from Pug 206 and have a totally different font and flag arrangement. Just search for other Evo VIIs and PM the builder if he/she had built the McRae version.

1. There are different ways of attaching them. Some teams use the arrangemet of "2 into 1", or Y-arrangement shown here. Some teams attach each belt separately. Just a matter of doing your homework and researching the particular car you're building.

2. It scoops up air For the drivers to breathe, that is.

You can read my mind.

I have some spare Museum Collection name plates for the Evo 7. If you can't fix the problem with what Alex said you can have mine.

Did you paint the white strips along the bottom of the car or use the transfers? I've messed up my paint job about 3 times due to leaking masking tape. I'm gonna have to use decals anyway unless I want to buy another can of TS-49.

I didn't even think of that. Thanks for suggestion. If anyone built the McRae version and still has the Delecour decals, I can certainly use that. Otherwise, I might take up Marco_Wrc's offer. Please PM me.

I used the decals for the white strips on the bottom. The only exception is the middle portion of the front lip.

Thanks for the compliments from everyone. It was frustrating, but worth it in the end.
