Exclamation tranny and speedometer problem

I was putting in a lower powersteering hose on my 93 lumina coupe 3.1. with cruise control. and now the car wont leave 1st gear. and the speedometer wont work. there was a thin module on the tranny that was in my way that i unbolted and put back on. all hepl is welcome and needed thank you.

I'll tell you what, I used to have a lumina, but don't anymore. This was a problem in my dad's truck. I kinda made him feel dumb when I told him to check the fuse box. There might be an electronic transmission/gauges fuse. This is just an idea, and it was on a Ford, but they may be more similar than we thought. good luck with it!

Newer automatics have an electronic speed sensor in them. They depend on this to know when to shift. Since the speedo isn't working too, its gotta be that the sensor is not telling to computer to let it shift to 2nd. My son had exactly the same problem in a Dodge Caravan. In his case it was a $350 repair bill to replace the sensor in the tranny. In your case, since you messed with that electrical part, I'd check that first. Did you disconnect any electrical connector? Did you accidentally damage a wire harness near the transmission? Look real carefully before shelling out the bucks.

I got thanks though i was looking and the neutral "something" switch. not the VSS Vehical speed sensor.
