Well what do you want? Do you want top speed.....1/4 mile speed......or 0-60?

first things ya should do is dump that 305 and edelbrock setup
if u want to plug and play a nice crate engine from GM is what ya need. if u wanna go that route a ZZ4 or a 350HO has plenty of power to get ur 2nd gen to come alive
but if ur the handy kinda guy and wanna do things urself, decide what ur plans are for the car and how crazy you wanna get with a drive train. speed costs money, how fast do u wanna go.

also 0-60, 1/4m and topspeed are all biproducts of power, true setting a car up for highspeed runs is gonna take away from its 0-60 and 1/4m. these three factors tend to go hand in hand with power and aerodynamics
