More power in my celica help me

Hey,

Whtas up, i have been looking for mods for my car here are the specs that it has right now:

2.2L DOHC
140hp @5400 rpm
145torque@4400rpm
compression 9.5.1

Mods:

Cold air intake
reprogrammed ecu

Im looking to get more power (at least up to 200-215hp)out of this engine but i cant find any sites or shops that have any decent mods.Any suggestions on shops or parts that might help. I know a turbo would do the trick but for that i would have to swap to the 2.0, im also looking for aftermarket headers and exhaust system and cams. Another question i have does the 91 mrs turbo engine swap fairly easy with my car? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

to answer your engine swap problem

"91 mrs" i think you mean mr2 and it should be fairly easy since they have the same engine (5sfe which is almost the same as the 3sgte which is 2.0L and has a ct26 or ct20b turbo on it depending on which year) and you should try to find at least a 93 engine because toyota made some mods witht the over all car and the engine from 92 - 93... if you want to go jdm then you have already reached your goal because it comes with 225hp stock 91 - 93...

Re: More power in my celica help me

ghetto, your facts aren't that straight. Show me anything Toyota saying CT20B, and you win a special prize.

There is no CT20B. Period. Sorry. It's just a later gen CT26.

Please tell me what "mods" toyota did to the 3S-GTE in 92, 93? (don't think too long)

You're also not going to get 225HP from a J-spec 3S-GTE without the J-spec ECU (or AM ECU) and better octane fuel.

Re: More power in my celica help me

WTF am I talking about? I'm talking about the fact that no where in TOYOTA publication, parts fische, whatever, did they EVER call ANY turbo a CT20B. Jesus... It's just a rumor. It doesn't exist. The turbo you are referring to is a CT26.

You get no prize becuase you didn't prove anything. Those are personal websites.

Call Toyota and ask them about the CT20B. See what they say.

Here read this if you didn't already.

Best Regards,
Chris

---

FYI - 3SGTE 3rd Generation Turbo

What turbo CT26? / CT20? / 20B?

The 4th Generation 3SGTE?

If you are continuing to identify the turbo of a 3SGTE 3RD Generation as a Toyota CT20 or CT20B then you are referring to an imaginary, non-existent turbo. This turbo exists only in the Internet. There is NO Official Toyota reference to this turbo in any Toyota Manual, CD Rom, or sales literature- that we have seen, that uses this designation to identify the turbo as installed on the 3SGTE 3rd Generation engines. There is a REAL Toyota CT20 turbo used on the 3TGTE, 4TGTE, and 22RTE engines in the 80’s but this will not bolt on the 3SGTE manifolds.

We have imported and sold many of ALL these engines types. We have ordered and sold many replacement turbos for the 3SGTE 3rd Generation. There is no casting designation identifying these turbos as CT20 or CT20 B. Many shops and individuals continue to sell and modify this turbo without knowing what they are handling. We have given this information to all inquiries for this particular turbo.

There have been many 3SGTE Celica and MR2 owners who have been misled into buying the real CT20 turbo from the older turbo engines. The seller is 100% correct in selling them as such with the casting # to prove so. Shops and individuals who pass the CT20 as upgrade for the 3SGTE- do not know any better. The buyer must be made aware that if they want the real 3SGTE 3RD Generation Turbo- it is not the CT20 or 20B. NO, we have not sold any of the CT20 / 20B as upgrade or update for the 3SGTE engines, despite insistence from many to purchase a CT20 /20B based on misinformation from the internet. In some Toyota literature these 3SGTE 3rd Generation turbos are still referred to as the CT26.

There are actually 2 different 3SGTE 3RD Generation Turbos- #1 as installed in the 1994 - up Celica ST205 and MR2 SW20 vehicles the flange is similar to the CT26 but with a Twin Entry casting and Ceramic impellers; #2 as installed in the Caldina ST215 (and other ST2XX models) including the newest 2004 model Caldina ST246- the turbo center section housing is cast in one piece with the exhaust manifold, also with Ceramic impellers. Again there is no identifying models on this turbo.

Also- the racing “3SGTE” based Toyota racing engines are not 3SGTEs- they are known internally at Toyota as 503- as used in IMSA, Pikes Peak, HKS drag car, and Le Mans. No internal or external parts are interchangeable.

To prevent another controversy and correct widespread misinformation- the Caldina ST 215 (and other ST2XX models) 3SGTE should not and cannot be referred to as 3SGTE 4th Generation . The 4th Generation head supports the VVTi valve set-up and has direct ignition. The block is identical to the 3rd Generation. There is a REAL 4th Generation 3SGE but they were not available with turbo.

Hopefully this will clarify the Turbo identification and the engine designation problems of the 3rd Generation 3SGTE.

Thank you for your attention

You get no prize. And I never said you did say anything about america. What are you talking about??? nevermind, I don't want to know...

Link #1 is Power Extreme's problem, not mine. Last I checked they aren't employeed by Toyota. Hint, I'm being sarcastic. They are not.

Link #2 is my friend Chris Dittrick's home page. Just because it says: "Toyota CT20B" doesn't mean much. I could go publish a page now that says the world is ending tomorrow. Would you believe me?
He is un-knowingly calling it a CT20B. Like many many many others.
Look at the pics. THe housing says TOYOTA. NOT TOYOTA CT20B. I wonder why...

Link #3 is my friend Robert Pina's page. He is also incorrectly calling it a CT20B.. Possibly for clarifications sake.

Link #4 is my friend Richard Doig's page. It's just a table showing engine specs. Again, not everything you read is right.

And the last link is just like the others. A non-Toyota page.

Go find an official document saying CT20b. If you don't want to, that's fine... this is just getting silly. Believe me or not. I will sleep easy.

Best Regards,
Chris
