program a keyless remote
Hi I have a 2002 impala 3.8 litre and am trying to program my new remote I tried turning the key on and the radio off pushed the button menu comes up and prog fob comes up push the next button the push fob comes up but will not flash can anyone tell me why it will not flash or how to make it flash? Thanks Glen

I was not aware you program a key fob without a scanner on this car. I do know that with the scanner, when you are in the program mode, you must push "lock" and "unlock" buttons at this same time for the remote control door lock reciever to recognize it.

Hi thanks for the reply .I checked out how to program a remote for a 2002 chev impala on the net and this is what I found in a bunch of treads.
1 Enter your vehicle with your ignition key in hand and close all of the doors behind you. 2 Insert your key into the ignition and turn the key to the "On" position. Switch off the radio. 3 Press and hold the "DISP" button on the radio until the "Settings" menu appears on the radio display. 4 Press the down or up arrows until the display reads "FOB PROG," and press the "Next" button. 5 Press the "DISP" button again and wait for the display to read "PUSH FOB." 6 Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on your keyless remote until the car responds with a chime. This may take up to 15 seconds. 7 Repeat step six to program any additional remotes. 8 Press the "DISP" button again to exit the programming mode and you will be free to use your newly programmed remotes Everything works as described except the prog fob will not flash maybe it will have to go to the dealer .What do you think ?Thanks again

I have always had to use a tech 2 to program fobs. The service manual says nothing about programming through the radio.

Hi it is a new fob I got it from ebay and it sayes it is for a 2002 impala and malibu but I am not sure if it is the right one. But the problem is that the push fob will not flash to let me try to program it.Mabey this is not the way to do it was just trying what it sayes on the net .Thanks
