shoc vtec d16z6

Is the d16z6 a jdm or did they come in usdm cars?another words can i find them at a junk yard or engine yard? localy? what is the d16y8?or any other d seris sohc vtec swaps?

d16z6- 125 hp from 92-95 civic ex, hatchback si, del sol si


d16y8- 127 hp from 96-2000 civic ex

It depends on whether its a direct bolt in swap or not on the wiring. The block itself will bolt right in, (the drivers side engine mount will be about 1mm crooked, but its how they fit and makes no problems)

If you want to keep your 4g MPFI setup, just use the sohc vtec block and head and keep your 4g intake. In this case, you'll have to use your 4g distributor as well and it doesnt bolt up to the d16z6 head, you will have to hack away at the legs. it will bolt right onto a d16y8 though.

I used the 5g (d16z6) intake manifold with OBD0 distributor, ECu, and injectors, there are some small problems with vacuum hose rerouting and such, but you could figure it out easily.

Keep your 4g cable tranny.

I would recommend converting to OBD1, as this is the very likely the most effecient setup and would yield the most horsepower stock with no tuning, but the OBD0 setup will work as well.
