Tamiya Ferrari F40
I've only recently jumped into the hobby, this being only my third model, but seeing as I'm such a huge Ferrari fan I just couldn't resist building something red
Started this one last month and here's the progress.![]() DSCN1371 by TheDocktor40, on Flickr ![]() DSCN1338 by TheDocktor40, on Flickr ![]() DSCN1339 by TheDocktor40, on Flickr ![]() DSCN1347 by TheDocktor40, on Flickr ![]() DSCN1343 by TheDocktor40, on Flickr |

Re: Tamiya Ferrari F40
I love F40. I've bought that same kit just a few weeks ago, and the LM version too. Good luck with it.

Re: Tamiya Ferrari F40
Thanks everybody! Personnally my all time favorite Ferrari. This is still a sort of learning model for me but I think I'm starting to get better.
I've made quite a bit of progress over the past couple of days so I'll try to get more pictures up this evening. |

Re: Tamiya Ferrari F40
Get some oven cleaner on wheels then paint yourself, will lift model loads

Re: Tamiya Ferrari F40
Unfortunately since the wheels are mounted now, I don't want to risk breaking any of the suspension parts by trying to remove them. Plus I've never tried stripping the chrome before and I'd be scared I'd ruin them somehow.
I have wanted to learn how to do that (really wanted to strip the chrome airboxes on this car), so how would you recommend going about it? I've seen people put parts in something like a cup of a solvent, and then let it sit to disolve the chrome, but have never really understood the process. |

Re: Tamiya Ferrari F40
I think that for chrome parts you can put them in a cup with bleach and the chrome will strip. Few days ago i strip paint from some fujimi rims (that were brown) with caustic soda and it work very well, i also strip paint from two cars with caustic soda

Re: Tamiya Ferrari F40
Oven cleaner is all i use. Cover them in it, leave for couple of mins and wipe, if clean then just dry, prime and paint, if not just repeat.
Works fine |

Re: Tamiya Ferrari F40
Finished! I love how the chassis turned out, but I feel like my body finish could have been better. I'm displaying it with the rear open since the fit is off by quite a bit. I know most people fix this issue, but I wasn't sure of a good plan of attack so I left it. I really learned a lot from this model though so I can't complain
