there are 3 air blend door motors in your system you need to change the motor mounted on the a/c-def duct just above your gas pedal the motors are all the same the run about $35.00 on ebay

Re: air blower problem

When you look at that actuator--look above it for the linkage to the defrost door to be detached-- I've seen maybe a dozen like this in last 6 years. The arm pops off the axle (door) and nothing to secure it right-- I use jb weld on it after I re-install it. Usually it is stuck were there is no defrost, but yours may be stuck in other direction...

Actuator is the one right above the gas pedal...

The one above the gas pedal is not hard to get to at all. Its on the side of the big black box right straight up from the gas pedal. My truck is doin the same thing. I have a 94 k-1500. It use to blow good everywhere and now the defrost and the floor are ok but the vents are not good at all. The max button does not work at all. I have noticed on mine that the fresh air door will keep on making a knockin sound when the door goes up or down all the way. I am going to have to check all of my acuators also. Let me know if you find anything with yours and i will let you know. I took the blower motor out the other day and reached my hand through to the evaporater and there was pine sticks. pine needles and all kinds of crap up by the evaporater. I work in a transmission shop and we have vehicles come in all the time with the evaporater leakin in the pass floor and or not blowin hard. That is one of the first things we check and clean out. Give yours a check and let me know if there is anything in it. When you stick your hand in there down on the bottom where the evaporater rest on the box rub your hand all the way around it. I am curious if yours is stopped up or not.

Re: air blower problem

ok this is what i found,

1. the door that opens and closes the rectangular door on the very bottom to the floor was stuck i jiggled it a little and it seems to work fine now

2. for some reason if i tell it to blow on the floor and defroster or just the defroster it thinks it needs to run the AC compressor but it still blows hot

3.the upper door that is connected to the lower door in the middle seems to have came loose so i pushed it back in and it turns but it seems to open when i tell it to blow only on the floor but nothing ever comes out of the vents very well

4. when i have it on vent only it still blows out the floor a little

5. and last the vents seem to blow a tiny bit better maybe and there also is a rectangular arm thing connected to the bottom vent arm that looks like it should be connected to something or go somewhere but i cant find anywhere for it to go any ideas???
so i think that my problem is probably the upper arm not opening the vent all the way or that rectangular thing that seems to go somewhere but what are your thoughts about it?

Re: air blower problem

The arm that is dangling has popped of the defrost door- at the top- you need to re-attach it.. I have done a dozen or so-- very very common for this arm to pop off the axle- use super glue or I use JB weld to make it stay on the axle of the defrost door-- this is your issue-- fix it and you will be fine.

If in doubt- go look at one of your buddy's C/K trucks of the 94-99 era- to see how that arm attaches-- I have a 95 dually that I reference when in doubt.....

Oh-and the a/c compressor is always on with defrost or blend by design- irregardless of mode door setting...

Re: air blower problem

the defrost door- up at the top of hvac module- look for white plastic door axle-- go look at a c/k truck in a used car lot if in doubt..

Re: air blower problem

It is the door at the top-- the one way up there---swing that arm vertical and see where the end lands- that is where the arm attaches to the door axle.

Re: air blower problem

Your local boneyard has tons of c/k trucks.......go look at one---and buy the arm for a quarter....

I've found the other end of the arm in the glove box before---folks see it fell on floor, have no idea what it is and put it in the glove box.
