99 Cavalier wont start.. have tired everything
I have had my 1999 Cavalier for almost 2 weeks now. Never had any issues until lastnight when it wouldnt start. The car wont even turn over. What should I do? Jumping didnt work. Turning the steering wheel didnt work. It is already in park.

Re: 99 Cavalier wont start.. have tired everything
Did you try cranking in neutral? You have to be positive the battery has a full charge and connections are clean and tight.
The purple wire at the starter solenoid S terminal should be hot/voltage, with key in the crank position. If it isn't, backtrack the circuit. With automatic tranny, that circuit is wired through the neutral switch, with a manual tranny, it is wired through the clutch switch. If you think the starter itself has a problem, some of the national brand autostores will test it for you. Take it off and take it to them. Note wiring diagram. |
