Stuck in 4LO

1993 Sonoma
4.3 vinZ
Electric shift 4 wheel drive
233 model transfer case

Hey yall, its me again. In another thread I had a problem with not being able to get to 4HI. I fixed that with a TCCM change. Working great for a week. I decided to change some burned out bulbs in the dash. Put cluster back together, got a "check gauges" light, took cluster back out and fixed a bent pin, put back together and dash works now. But the dang thing is stuck in 4LO! While putting dash back together and checking everything, I tried 4 wheel selector switch, it made its noises and both lights went out on switch. If I turn key to "on" position it goes through its self test and both lights go out. Both lights stay out after starting engine. But its obviously in 4LO cause it drives like a tank with no gumption. The 4LO light is not on either. Pushing selector switch yields no results and no lights. I tried old TCCM and no change. I do have a code 2 stored which is an encoder motor fault. I get no relay noises in the TCCM when trying switch.
I have a GM shop manual which I am gonna use tommorow to try and track down problem. What are the chances I pulled a wire loose under dash while working on cluster?
If all else fails, I need to know how to manually switch back to 2HI so I can use vehicle. This is important to me to be able to do this.

Thanks in adavance.

Re: Stuck in 4LO

UPDATE:

Went back out early this morning and tried getting it back into 2HI. Put gear selector in neutral and moved gear shifter lever around a bit and got it back into 2HI. Seems I have a switch/wiring problem. Truck in park and running, cant get it into 4 wheel drive but at least I can use it in 2HI. Any thoughts here? This forum has allways been helpful.

Thanks

Re: Stuck in 4LO

I use my 4x4 a lot on a 97 3 button switch & most of the time to get out of 4LO I have to have the engine running & in neutral. But if you have a stored code then you may have an issue. It should go in & out of 4HI in gear. But I have bound mine up to where I had to put it in neutral to get it out. But I was in some tough terrain.

Re: Stuck in 4LO

I usually get pretty good answers from you guys. Yep, gonna work on the 2 code problem. Just baffles me why changing dash lights caused it to stop working, oh well. Coffee, a cigarette, and a shop manual should do the trick.

Blazerguy, you have to put it in neutral anytime you go in or out of 4LO anyhow dont you?

Thanks guys.
