Smart Trak Front Driveshaft Issue??

Need some more advice on my 2000 Bravada with about 200K miles......and it has an NP136 xfer case

Have a vibration that starts at about 50 mph----its kind of a low pitched hum that is not wheel or suspension related. I believe its related to the front driveshaft.

The front joint on the drive shaft is good but the xfer case end seems to wobble quite a bit. The CV Joint itself seems to be pretty tight, but the whole assembly coming out of the tranfer case seems to have too much play---like maybe the front output bearings are bad (small leak at that seal too).

Could bad front output bearings cause the shaft to wobble and create my vibration and hum...........or am I way off on my diagosis?

Re: Smart Trak Front Driveshaft Issue??

Remove the front drive shaft and road test the vehicle. If the vibration is gone, the transfer case front output bearing might need attention or the splines on the output shaft or the yoke are worn.
