What if Group B was still legal..? Peugeot 206 T16 Evo 3.

Everybody remember seeing the crazy, old Group B rallycars flying through the woods at amazing speed, looking like they did.. AWESOME !! And the sound.. who could forget..? Even though I wasnīt born yet, I have seen videos that give me the promise that seeing this cars in action for real wouldīve been amazing and something that couldnīt been erased from the memory.. from our minds ! My personal favourite is without a doubt the Audi S1.. But everyone remember the Peugeot 205 T16 Evo 2.

And just this other day I came up with the idea of doing a modern Group B rallycar. And since I hade a Tamiya 206 WRC laying around waiting to end up crashed in a diorama I decided to give it some dignity and end up as a modern version of the crazy Group B Peugeot 205.. Here is the result so far:

Now the plan is paint it just like the original car and give it the characteristics of the 205 with a similar rear wing etc. but with a modern touch. I hope you will stay tuned to follow the result !

Best regards,

Rickard

Great work so far!! Are you going to add an engine to the back aswell? Are you going to widen it?

Re: What if Group B was still legal..? Peugeot 206 T16 Evo 3.

I had this idea too when having a Heller body resting after decals pick up in it...
Never finished it, like always...
You did an excellent start !! I may raise mine at the front of scene. Would be funny if we come to a close result !! Gr. B are my all time favorite cars.
I consider myself as a Peugeot fan, but my favorite car was the Sport Quattro. 205 comes just behind.
Will you used a 205 engine or scratch it...?
I also thought a time to use a V6 as it's often the case in Rallycross, with was the second life of 205 T16.
Have fun with this, I already enjoy myself !!

thanks for the response, everybody ! The plan is not to widen it since the 206 already is quite wide enough ! but I will do some smaller changes. And yes.. I will add an engine at the back ! I have a spare Skyline RB26DETT or whatever it is called.. and Iīm going to use this to turn it into a 4 cylinder engine with atleast one big turbo or a double-turbo setup.

It would be great if you picked your project up too, Phil !!

Hi,
Great start on this interesting project, keep up the good work!

..someone already did something similar. It might be helpful or you could probably use it for future inspiration..
The whole work could be found here: http://www.rallye-miniature.com/foru...t=91&start=135

Ok I'm with you !! But I'll have to make a Tamiya sacrifice !!
I put my hands back on the heller box, unfortunately at the bottom of a to do pile and the too weak heller box didn't resist and was crushed, and the already cut body inside too !! it's almost flat now, it's 2cm wider on each side than the cut rear when I put them beside and align them...
With around 450 kits to build (... a minute of silence please... ) this build isn't really my priority, but I've been thinking to it as soon as I saw Peugeot coming back in WRC in 99, wondering what would be this 206 mixed with the mythic 205 T16 Gr. B rules so I'm gonna do my best to build a model as good as possible. Won't be a fast build, I have some current other builds especially some 1/43 cars retaining all my attention (a "205 Maxi" among them !! )
The only real precise idea I have for this 206 Gr. B is the rear wing...
let's see if I can do something with that...!

I can't but think that it should have a V6 at the back like something the Metro 6R4 did except possibly twin turbo'd...

Re: What if Group B was still legal..? Peugeot 206 T16 Evo 3.

Group B was Turbo 4-cylinders era, but also allowed atmo 6-cylinders so a V6 turbo is probably against Gr. B spirit but Gr. B was finally opening a lot of posibility.
I'm still not sure what kind of engine I'll put in the car, but will probably keep a 4-Cylinders Turbo (maybe twin turbo, or compressor + turbo like the S4... ) except if I push the project further to an evolution of Gr. B and then try a V6, turbo probably because turbo stays the Gr. B key-word to me.
I started yesterday evening, sacrifice began, but I'm still fighting with the wing which is my main inspiration and I won't post something if I can't get what I expect from it. I have been having this wing in mind for years !!
that would put mine closer to a Pikes Peak or rally cross version but in this sens it will be an evoluted Gr. B, we said evo3 right !?!
And I think it's the sens to give to this model, not seeing it like what a 206 would have been during Gr. B years but what 206 would be nowadays under Gr. B rules.

I should admit that I have a thing for V6 engines, especially those from Milan...
