Disconnect Rear Air? 96 Suburban
How do I disconect the lines to the rear a/c system on my 96 suburban. I believe the leak is back there and nobody ever rides back there anyway. I little a/c up front is all I need so I'd like to just disconnect it.
Is there a way, or place, to plug those lines heading back there? Thanks in advance. Last edited by jjwg3; 06-26-2010 at 10:23 AM. Reason: Duplicate |

Sorry about the duplicates! It wouldn't post, then I'd go to the index to be sure it didn't and it wasn't there. Next thing I know...bunch of duplicates. Should have known better. Sorry!

Re: Disconnect Rear Air? 96 Suburban
I do not know of a way to bypass the rear A/C. Best to take it to a good A/C mechanic and ask them. It's not like bypassing a heater problem.
To delete your duplicates go to each post and click on EDIT. At the bottom left click on "delete message". You don't need to put a reason in. Then at the bottom right click "delete message". Kind of cleans things up. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the input. As for deleting, I have tried everything and lokked everywhere for that delete button. I hit Edit/Delete, but can't find anything that will actually delete it.
Still trying... |

Re: Disconnect Rear Air? 96 Suburban
I don't have rear AC in my Suburban anymore (bad rear expansion valve), and I'm in Arizona, but you have a leak. I'd consider the fittings available on that site to block off the rear. Otherwise, you can take the front part of your metal lines for the rear AC and have them welded shut, then re-install them (with new O-rings).
To by-pass the rear HEAT, like with a leak, you can use Gates molded 3/4 hose #19607 and bypass just under the passenger front door. |

Re: Disconnect Rear Air? 96 Suburban
There is a web site called www.streetrodguys.com that has rear a/c block kits and rear a/c line repair kits for just about any vehicle. Highly recommend this site I have bought several fittings from them and have never had a problem with any of them.
