Toyota Celica ZZT230

Hi guys,

just want to show you my next project. I want to start a new project in the new year, but I can't help to start it earlier.

This Toyota Celica is sitting in my pile for a few years now, so I thought it would be time to start on this kit.

It's a Tamiya kit, so everything looks great.

The original wheels are sold or lost (don't know) but they look silly anyway so I had to find replacements. I think these Aoshima AVS Model 5 will look great. It's a sharp straight wheel just like the lines on the Celica body.

The color will be Red Mica Crystal Shine from Toyota/Lexus. The wheels will be painted with a gun metal paint I think.

Re: Toyota Celica ZZT230

Today I started on the Celica. First I removed the spoilerbraces on the back. I also added the sideskirts.

First I added some primer:

Followed by Part 1 of the Mica Red.

Followed by Part 2 of the Mica Red. This paint is more clear and contains the metallic flakes. I sprayed it in different directions so the metallic will be visible in every angle.

The wheels are already primered and ready for a new color. That's the main job for tomorrow .

Kris.

Re: Toyota Celica ZZT230

Yesterday I clearcoated the body. I used Zero 2K for this job.

I had 2 little dusts in the wet paint, but they are easy to polish.

Re: Toyota Celica ZZT230

Last week I spent some time on modelling. First I started with the interior. I sanded everything and primered every part. Then I painted the first grey paint, followed by some masking.

Now I was able to spray the next grey paint, and remove the maskingtape.

Now I could paint some details and start to assembly the parts.

I also spent some time on the body. First I polished the paint and masked off the body to paint the windowtrims and rearbumper part.

After this I added all the lights.

Next I'll start on the chassis and decided what color the wheels will be painted.

Beautiful work so far!! Flyonthewall built one of the Celicas years ago and it details how he lowered the Tamiya suspension on it. I followed that same tutorial and I was pleased with the results.

Re: Toyota Celica ZZT230

Today I finally lowered the chassis, so I could finally add some paint on the wheels. I decided to paint them AcladII Steel.

The chassis is done. I did some wheatering and I painted the exhaust with different AcladII paints.

Meanwhile it's finished so completed pics will be uploaded soon.
