2000 Blazer Parking Brake Question
I have a 2000 Blazer 4WD, disc brakes front and back. I have been having issues with my rear passenger side. A couple of times when i have gotten home from work I have smelt something warm in the wheel well. I have taken the wheel off and checked the pads and they still had plenty of pad left. I happened again today, so i decided to replace the pads and rotor to see if that would take care of it. When I pulled off the rotor after having a lot of trouble getting it off I noticed that the parking brake could just flop around. I looks like there is a bracket that should hold it in place. Could it be possible that i pulled it off when the rotor came off or that it was already off and it was moving around cusing binding.

Re: 2000 Blazer Parking Brake Question
Looks like you need to do some work back there. Backing plates, park brake shoes, and a complete hardware kit. Autozone has all of it. The axles need to be removed to replace the backing plates, the rest of it is straight forward.
The caliper pistons have a habit of binding in the caliper bore and the caliper hardware binds in the caliper mounting brackets. Loaded, complete rear calipers come with all of it, including the brackets.

Re: 2000 Blazer Parking Brake Question
After replacing rear rotors and pads I still had the heat build up even worse with new pads and rotors. Replaced the caliper too and seems like that was the problem.
