Explorer airbag

This does this every now and then, the airbag light will come on for a day or les and then not come on for months..Today it came on i believe the blinking code was 4-2 and then a 4-1.. It is an 02 explorer 4wd..

Any thoughts or idea's.. I read something that a line is to short or moisture is messing with the connections under the seat.. Not sure so i am asking here, it seems there is a ton of knowledgeable people on this forum!

Thank you in advance for your comments!

Re: Explorer airbag

Please confirm the Lamp Fault Codes (LFC). The 2002 Factory Service Manual does not list either of those LFCs but they do sound familiar....

LFC 14 and 24 are valid codes.

Re: Explorer airbag

If the codes are read correctlt, I found the code 42. Please confirm as Rod said

Re: Explorer airbag

It flashes 4x's and a 2 second pause and flashes twice more. It does this a few times and then goes to a solid light..

I took a video with my cell phone but can't find a way to post it

Re: Explorer airbag

I found that under the seat in my 2000 the yellow plug was not making contact. I unplugged them and pluuged them back and the light went off.
It was on for 5 yrs. There is one under each seat.
