Can anyone assist on 458 Italia Engine pix?

As I’m preparing for building the Revell Ferrari 458 Italia, I wanted to do as much detail to the engine as possible. I know the engine is “buried” in the engine bay, but I started to search the web (Ferrari sites, FOTKI, eBaymotors, etc.) for pictures of the engine outside of the car (not the burned out wrecks of course). All to no avail.

Has anyone come across any or taken any at an event?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Gerry

Hi Gerry,

I took some detailed pics some weeks ago when I could open the hood of the one I had under my hands, so I'll post some here later this evening or tomorrow evening (GMT+1), time to sort them out and check them.

Re: Can anyone assist on 458 Italia Engine pix?

You're welcome, I knew it would help once as I have the kit to build too anyway, so I didn't want to miss the opportunuty to take those pics engine hood opened !

I've just uploaded some medium res pics to post them here, if you want some (or even all) in HD feel free to ask and we'll do that by email.

They are mostly details close-up pics, hopping it's what you expect to find.
I also have body details close-up such as air vents, diffusor, etc if that can help too.

here are the pics:

Pictures of the Italia engine are not as easy to come by as I'd have hoped (at least they weren't when I was actively looking). Anyway, in addition to Phil's useful photos of the engine bay, there are some pictures of the car during the production stages here and these are the only ones in my collection that show the cam covers, for example. There are also some very useful pictures of the chassis/suspension there.

Re: Can anyone assist on 458 Italia Engine pix?

Thank you Rallyemaster and Ales. These help a lot. Believe it or not, the Fujimi cam covers look more detailed than the Revell. I haven't yet taken the time to evaulate the two engines and see how they might fit with a Tamiya 360 engine. Will do so in the next month.

I suspect Revell simplified as the engine is so buried.

I will publish whatever I find out.

Thanks,

Gerry

patience.
we don't normally get proper in depth photos until one of these things gets taken into a garage for a proper service.

You can cross-reference with the parts manual to find what what goes where.
http://eurospares.co.uk/index.asp

It doesn't give you any color info, but most hoses and wires are flat or semi-gloss black any way.

Thanks, I already have that data. Eurospares is a good source if the car is on it.
