Transmission problems
My son's 4runner blew a head gasket. I pulled the entire engine out and rebuilt it. I fingured that since I was in it, I minus well do everything. Now that the engine is back in and running, I went to put the truck in gear and nothing happens. I can put it in any gear, reverse, forward, etc. and it will not move. It is like it is in Neutral. I can roll the car but that is it. I'm wondering if I did something to the transmission when I put the engine in.
Thanks for you help. |

Re: Transmission problems
Is the stick shift connected to the transmission and is there a chance the gear selector linkage on the tranny got moved while working on the engine ?
Just a suggestion.....

Re: Transmission problems
My 95 V6 3.0 automatic trans is slipping also, but not as bad as you describe. The guy I bought it from had to replace a head gasket from an overheating issue that was happening for awhile. I replaced the radiator & thermostat...thats all it was. Runs cool now but tranny slippimg. My fluid is burnned so I am going to replace oil & filter to see if that helps. Tranny fluid is bad from clogged radiator.
