96 cutlass more coolant problems

can fill radiator, open bleeders but no coolant. Can run with temp sender out will only let steam out. did this for at least 30 min. with sender in it will go over so far the needle touches the zero on speedo. I can get plenty of air but no coolant. It's a 3.1 with new thermostat, radiator cap, sender and water pump. Please help!!

Where's the coolant going? On the ground?

No, it's not going on the ground and it doesn't seem to be going in the oil.

Re: 96 cutlass more coolant problems

that leaves either out the exhaust, or from the radiator with pin hole leaks, ie..steam escaping.

Re: 96 cutlass more coolant problems

It should be fairly easy to see if that much coolant is exiting. Is the emissions from the exhaust white and sweet smelling?

I have a 97 Oldsmobile, 97 Lumina, and 98 Lumina. All 3.1L engines. The fact is the head gasket needs to be replaced along with head bolts every 75K miles. I just finished my second head gasket repair about 10K miles ago. THe 2 Luminas have had a repair each.

If you haven't replaced the head gasket yet and you are close to 75K or over. I would think that you are seeing this
