Hit a deer with my blazer/s10 he destroyed the air pump.i live in kansas -no smog requirements. Can I bypass the pump. And how do I get rid if the service engine light?

Re: Blazer secondary air pump

I don't think you can......

The VCM commands the air pump on, at startup on a cold engine(length of time on, depends on coolant temp)........when the isolator valve opens up, this sends air into the exhaust, which should make the reading lean on the O2 sensor.......if the VCM does not see the exhaust go lean(on a cold engine on startup, the exhaust will be rich), it sets the code.....no way around this one....
