97 Chevy wont shift into 4wd

I have a 97 silverado that will shift into 4wd whenever it wants. i cannot select 2hi 4hi or 2lo. the selector light doesnt like up anything. the truck will just suddenly shift into whatever it feels like bein in.after i turn the truck off sometimes i can here the transfercase shifting. any ideas?

check ATC fuse underhood fuse box, its a 15amp fuse.

i had the same problem in my 95 and it was my electronic actuator in my transfer case. it puts the 4whl drive into gear

Yeah but he said that he has no lights on the selector, meaning there must be no power getting there.

now i got the lights workin on the switch. however it is still in 4lo and when i hit 4hi the relay under the dash clicks but the transfercase does nothing?
