Brakes on P11

After owning a P10 eGT for few years and now owning a P11 GT I have noticed that the brakes don't inspire the same confidence.
My p10 was a 100.000 miler and always gave consistant and sure stopping power even with newer brakes fitted.
We have had the P11 since new and it has now covered 45,000 miles. I don't drive it like a madman but I have noticed that the brakes require a little more pressure to bring the car to a stop. What I mean is that you arn`t always sure that the pressure applied to stop the thing is sufficient and it can catch you out at the last moment.
I noticed it before I changed the pads and now after a few thousand on new pads the same feeling is there. I drained the fluid from the system and replaced it when I changed the pads. (Be warned this is a nightmare job as the ABS actuator holds an enormous amount of fluid and takes forever to bleed if you don`t blank off hoses at each corner). I have also noticed the ABS tends to kick in when conditions don`t appear to warrant it. Just on one of the front wheels. Seems to be linked with the weight transfer of the car when braking on or just after cornering. Anyone had anything similar. Or is this just a charactaristic of the car
