Re: Help!!!
The D16A1 won't fit in there very easily - it's actually a different series motor. The motor mounts are way different. You'd be better off fixing the A6 or finding another block than trying to fabricate new mounts and stuff for the A1.

Re: Help!!!
I don't know of anybody that has actually done this. You'll gain like 4hp and 1 less torque for all the work you'll put in to it, it's not worth it. I've heard of people trying, but gave up because of the amount of fabrication required. You'd do way better dropping a z6 or a zc or another a6. The ZC is over 130hp - which would gain you about 20hp, the z6 is 125hp which is a 15hp gain - way more than the A1 and they are drop in and plug in practically - no fabrication.

Re: Help!!!
So whats the best engine to drop in it without having to mess with the mounts and plugs and that will give me the most hp with dual cams?

Re: Help!!!
The ZC is the only drop in motor that will drop in without any modification. "ZC" is the actual engine code - you usually have to import them or find somebody that has one - I don't think that they were ever released in any US cars.

Re: Help!!!
The crankshafts are different I believe as well. The second best motor to drop in is the D16z6, but it will require a little rewiring. The ZC isn't as easy to work on because it's kinda the ugly headed step child of the d series motors. The z6 is going to have more support for aftermarket and upgradable parts.

Re: Help!!!
Nope, the head bolt patterns are different. Even the ZC head won't bolt to a single cam block.

Re: Help!!!
Dont get in the mindset that SOHC isn't worth anything, they can put out some power.
The A1 is out of the old integras, its a common swap with the 1g Crx because its one of the only engines that will drop right in those chassis. Z6 is possible to drop in without rewiring, just use your current distributor and ECU. It performs better if you convert to OBD1 and use its distributor and ECU, but its not necessary. As he mentioned, the z6 will have more support than the ZC. If you were wanting to build an all-motor engine, the pistons out of the A1 are actually perfect for the z6, will bump the compression up to 11:1-12:1 depending on a couple variables. Z6 is also a good turbo engine, I hear Vitara(i believe) pistons are great for turbo setups, will lower the compression from stock to allow more boost. Niether engine, z6 or zc, will require different mounts, wiring is just variable. I would suggest switching to OBD1 at some point, if your going to build its almost necessary so you can tune it.

Re: Help!!!
Not enough info man. There are a lot of wires under the hood. I don't know what all you swapped over, I don't know how I should tell you to check the Check Engine light, etc.,
