96 740IL Audio Upgrade
I would like to replace the speaker in my 740IL plus put in an amp and bass in the trunk - who has been through this and what effect did it have on your factory installed disc player - did you get low level engine noise if you didn't replace the factory installed radio - thanks again

subwoofer - good idea, cd reciever - good idea, but to replace factory speakers - no. I have 93" 740i and it has hidden factory amp ( I think yours too), which is engeneered for these speakers. So by changing something you can loose what you have now.

midas740il,
I have a 98 740iL and I did some stereo upgrades. I installed 2 10' subs in the trunk running of a new Amp. I also made sure that the sub woofer amp has a remote bass control so I could change the amount of bass at any given time. I kept the original factory amp and just replaced the speakers with good components. That way, the mid and high go through the door speakers and the bass comes from the trunk. The bass is hard hitting and I run it at half volume. The mid and high are great since I put components in the doors. (Make sure that they have passive cross over to cut the bass off from them.) |
