Rip off?

Today my friend and I went to a muffler shop to go put on a muffler. He got the flow master 80 series for his birthday. Only the muffler nothing else. Well the mechanic at the shop said it would cost around 150$ to put it on! I was shocked. The muffler was $76, $90 with shipping. Does that seem right?. I cant believe that.

for about 10min of work?
it will take a exhaust mechanic about 10 min to put a muffler on his car
its very easy, why dont u guys try doing it yourself? its just a matter of undoing the old muffler and slipping the new one over the pipes then clamping it down
definitally not $150 to put a muffler on

all sizes are standard a 2.5" muffler is a 2.5" muffler no matter what the make, otherwise it wouldnt be a 2.5" muffler would it?
hes probally just a lazy ass and dosent want to bother, even if it was a tad smaller i can just clamp it tighter, to an extent though
go to another shop and get another price, then call up the manager of the store that was trying to rip u off and tell him what his mechanic charged then tell me what the competition charged, i garuntee you the shop that tried to rip u off will get u a better price, but make sure u talk to the manager!

your getting ripped that all i got to stay by the book it would cost a maximum or 65 to just put it on thats if you already bought all the parts but for the extention pipe and putting the exsaust on that would sound right

A rip off thats nothing compared to brake check. They wanted two hundred dollars to put on brake pads on my firebird. Then when I went home and checked my tires because they fucked with them all of my caps were lose and one was missing so I went back and made them pay for it (like a buck) but anyways don't ever go there. Anywhere you go they will try and rip you off because the firebird is compact you just have to do it yourself or go to someone you know.
