'89 Van RPM problem
Hi,
Recently got a '89 Van that has a '83 - '84 engine in it. The problem is i can't pass the technical inspection in my country due to the fact that it won't hold at high RPM. I need it to go to at least 4000 and stay there, but it automatically throws the RPM back to like 1-2k. This is all happening at neutral not in gear. All advice is much appreciated. Thanks

Yeah, that's what i thought because my '95 Park Avenue won't hold it either, but it is limited a little higher I think so it passed with no problem. How do I explain to them however that it is just a built in safety feature to prevent detonation...

It would be best to find a inspection station that has a inspector with a little common sense.
And hope he just over looks it. Good Luck

well it is all computerized here so he can't really do anything about it, and i live in Estonia so there aren't THAT many american cars here, mostly german and japanese/korean so yeah..kinda hard to find one.
