Sweet. I gotta know where you picked that up and how much did it set you back? Does that model have the standard I-6 or is it the one they cramed the V-8 into.

Wow. Very nice. Excellent detail... I also cringe when I think about the price tag, but it seems like a very high quality model.

The model posted bart8016 ran in Petit LeMans not ALMS. This one should be available for purchase in regular hobby shop with price inline with other race cars produced by Minichamps (60-70 USD depends on where you purchase it). The ALMS version is an BMW exclusive item. The price for that might be a bit higher (75-100 USD Depends on where you purchase it). Anyway, the following is the ALMS version I have in my collection.

The difference between these 2 models are extremely minor. If you absolutely want one and can careless if it's BMW exclusive or not, I'd suggest you to go with lower priced Petit LeMans version.

Enjoy!

P.S. All E46 M3 GTRs including the suppose "Street" version have V8s in them.

Just for a little FYI: The Pet LeMans is in the American LeMans Series. The standard M3 comes with an I-6. In 2001 BMW crammed the M5 V8 into the M3-GTR to out run the porches...and they did. The next year ALMS banned the M5 motor in the M3 because it wasn't offered in the street car.

Oops, you are right. Petit LeMans is part of ALMS. What I meant was the trim on bart8016's model is as ran in Petit LeMans. The BMW Exclusive version is as ran in the rest of the series.

Well, I guess BMW is not going to release the M3 GTR street version anymore. After all, it's designed to keep them in the series. It's no longer needed since BMW withdraw from the series. I guess maybe the next M3 would receive a V8 so they can re-enter the series on a later date.

I knew what you meant, but i thought i would share for those who may not have. The M3 with the V8 was a sweet car. I hope they can bring it back legally in the future. It sure sounded alot better than the I-6 and was running all over those porsches. I like a porsche as much as the next man, but it's getting old seeing three porsches on the podium every race.

I've found a few of these on Ebay...they are going for $45 and up and most are from England. I'll have to get one or two after I complete my C5-R collection.
