after long trip 95 GC wants to stall

after i get back from 60 mile trip when i go and start jeep (after maybe 20 min from getting back) jeep runs crappy and wants to stall if i let it sit for 3 or more hours its fine what causes this its a 1995 GC 6 cyl

its had oil change and new plugs recently

Did the problem suddenly occur or has it been happening and getting worse? How many miles?

i usually dont take it on long trip just drive it around the city its a recent problem ....260,000 miles

Thanks for the mileage. Are you getting any codes? I think there's an OBD (on board diagnostics) in the 95. It might be a fuel delivery issue - if the fuel gets hot enough it can vaporize in the line and cause rough running and poor starting. This happened to me over the summer a couple times, when the temperature was over 100*. After it runs rough for a minute or two, does it get back to normal?

it was about 98 that day and yes it does go back to normal after about 20 sec

Yeah, that sounds like vapor lock in the fuel system. I "fixed" mine by letting it idle for about 30 seconds before shutting it off when it's over 90* outside. To my thinking that gets cooler fuel into the line to resolve the issue. It hasn't come back.

now on to the next issue i have 2 jeeps a 95 GC and a 87 cherokee (well the 87 is my sons but ... ) how difficault is it to replace the steering COLUMN im hoping its all done frome inside on the floor board ect getting to the u-joint will be tedious

Any time. Not a problem IMO, just an inconvenience - and only when it's really hot out.

Sorry I don't have any experience with the steering column.....a new thread would be your best bet.
