Angry Unfamiliar noise...

It is kind of like a howling noise coming from under where the air filter is. No gauges have come in but when I rev the engine or hit the gas it sounds like a loud ticking like something hitting a fan. Any ideas?

Re: Unfamiliar noise...

Make sure your air cleaner box is attached and locked to the bottom, check to see if clamp loosened on the throttle body also.

Re: Unfamiliar noise...

The wife was driving it and she said the temperature gauge when driving would be on the high bar but when she stopped it dropped to the cool bar. Could it be a water pump or thermostat issue? Maybe low coolant?

HA damn cats!

Check coolant level when cold on your coolant reservoir tank.

Re: Unfamiliar noise...

She got the gauges mixed up. I finally went out and drove it. It was the engine oil gauge, checked the dip stick and it was dangerously low. I added oil and it still sounded kind of rough. It almost sounds like it was running dry. Still not sure!!

Re: Unfamiliar noise...

Ut oh..... better drain it and put new oil in, add some lucas or slick 50 to oil. Follow slick 50 directions and run it to see what happens next.. if not slick 50 then run all snythetic. While under car chk for leaks, pull the plugs to see if soaked....

Re: Unfamiliar noise...

She could of got shorted oil on the previous oil change.
Always check oil after an Express oil change.

Try to figuar out, how much oil was missing from the previous change.
Mileage per quart of oil.

Re: Unfamiliar noise...

The oil change was done some time ago, synthetic oil. I did check it after it got done. It sounds like almost a grinding noise like something has been sitting a while and needs to loosen up. Very hard to explain. Also sounds like an air hose is loose.
