BMW M3 GTR - Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance 1/24

Hi guys,
this is Paolo,I am an italian modeller.
First of all sorry for my english, it is not too good, but I hope u can understand me.

Quite impressed by the level of your works, I try start my own 3d about the bmw m3 gtr racing in the italian endurance champ.
The scale will be 1/24 and the car I am going to make will be this one (if the upload of images will work..I hope).

hi guys,
to make this car I started from a toy.
A company named Mondo corse makes a decent die cast toy replica of the street version of the bmw m3.
These die cast are very cheap (around 10 euros here),so I unassebled the body to save the parts I can use to convert it as for the real thing.
(later on we will talk a little of the real car, to understand better what exactly is this racing bmw).
I washed then the body with nitro thinner,to delete all the huge and heavy glossy paint on it...

so now finally the die cast body is naked.
The mouldings are not so bad, is just a shame they are painted so badly to give it the glossy "licked candy" finish.
The front and the read bumpers are in plastic (front one is trasparent).This will help when will be the moment to pump up the body.

One of the reason I wanted to make this car was cause I saw her racing last month in Monza.
The color is too nice,all the car gives a sensation of power that I love.
As a secondary job I am the truckdriver for Honda Corse,and some of my friends build the real car for the client-pilot Piero Necchi, that shares the seat with endurance italian legend Beppe Gabbiani (ex f1 osella, Lancia Lc2...ac schnitzer bmw m6..)

She was originally build in Germany (wher else? ) ,with ADAC VLN specs,then finished in Italy by Rolandi Auto,to fit FIA specs for our local tourism endurance champ.

This car has nothing in common with the one at the Chicago expo at the beginning of 2009.U can see it clearly looking the differences in the front wheel arch,as well as the bonnet is different.
The demo Bmw is higher in shape,and overall the car is simply similar to this one... but that was only a show car and (still?) not a true racer.
Some says thats is the first look of the upcoming DTM car,still not seen at today.

The engine is even the v8 4 Liters Bmw based and tuned by Rolandi.
Will be too cool to see her someday at the ring 24 hours....but before I have to convince Piero Necchi in that adventure..

as guide for dimensions and shape I got a draw from friends working on the real..

started to drill the bonnet and also tried some fittings of the die cast parts to keep theme a little better.
Also the front part is under work right now..

eh eh..hi Martin,
I was thinking to that, but this version is really ONLY the car racing in italy (season 2009 and upcoming 2010 will see about 8 of these cars racing).

The problem is that u cant convert it into the DTM vehicle, cause all the front part is different (ok..actually nothing is impossible),as well as also the other italian ones have minor differences to this car (exhaust do not end back as here but many have lateral ones, as nascars,mirrors in others can be as e36 or e46 serie...).
For those reason I dont think it would be so useful...unless u like the blue italian bmw as I do

really thank u all guys.
Not easy to post something interesting here...looking at the stunning level of your works, but I try to do my best

I go on with the fwd part of the Bmw,so took some plasticard (1mm) and made it wider and wider,always following where possible the shape I have on my drawings.
The front air intake have to be more open than the toy size, and inside i have to delete almost all the plastic they moulded.
More it becomes plasticard, more for me is easy to rework it.

the bonnet is not fixed..just there to show how it will look when mounted
