First Good day with my Panoz
Had my first good day at the track with the GTS. After a fall crash and spring engine explosion finally got a good day in.
Went to NJMP Lightning instructing with SCDA. New engine pulls strong. Changed from break in to synthetic oil after the first session. Had the trans rebuilt and upgraded with TKO parts & synchros and REM polished gears during the engine rebuild. Trans shifts very smoothly. Put the new double disk V-force Q-Master clutch. Great shifting and tons of bite. Had 3 good sessions and started to get comfortable with the car. The car gets a little loose on turn entry. Made a rear sway bar adjustment which corrected it a bit. Need to adjust rear shock rebound (set in the middle) to slow weight transfer. I adjusted the brake bias more toward the front which also helped a little. If anybody has a suggestion for the loose in condition I'd love to hear about it. Overall pretty happy with the car. It will take some getting used to. It was great to finally run the car. Rich |

Re: First Good day with my Panoz
Good to hear Rich... as someone who's had a good bit of mechanical torubles this year I know how good it feels to have a clean issue-free weekend.

Rear sway doesn't help?

Re: First Good day with my Panoz
sway bars only help mid turn traction

Re: First Good day with my Panoz
What I'm wondering is if the bar is creating the loose / free turn in? When I reduced / took out the sway bar it helped. Eric said "ditch the sway bar". Is it hurting turn in that much and will I be giving up too much everywhere else?
I figured somebody has taken it out, added 1, gone bigger, smaller etc. Rich |

Re: First Good day with my Panoz
sway bars don't do much for turn in. Turn is mostly springs, tire pressures, shock settings. I run the bar disconnected and in all the other settings depending on track conditions and feedback.

Re: First Good day with my Panoz
Try
rear sway bar at mid setting Rear shocks set full hard, -6 clicks Front sway bar full soft. Front shocks full hard, - 4 clicks If still loose, balance brake bias for max braking with out lock up. Also check front upper a arm for any play. Vary important. Also check lower brake support rod as well as lower mono ball. Still loose, Shocks need rebuild. |
