Re: Dead Instrument Cluster
My 98's was really flakey when I had a undersized battery in it when I bought it. I'd be cruis'n downt he road and all teh gauges would just drop off, usually the airbag light would come on tho. Anyway, a quick whack on the top of the dash, and everything would go back normal. Since replacing the battery, it rarely ever happens if at all.

Re: Dead Instrument Cluster
actually its probably not the cluster itself they had issues with the electrical connectors to the cluster building up oxidation and then the clusters wouldnt work, most of the time if you whack the dash or push inward aganst the cluster it will work again for awhile, when i worked for jeep they had a repair connector available that you splice in and it solves the problem

Re: Dead Instrument Cluster
Thanks Guys for your Ideas.I had to finally take it in to a jeep Service Center.its was a B plus wire to it that was not connected a a harness wire.Guess when I took it in the garage to have the alarm disabled they must have messed it up.
Boy some Garages are no good. |

Re: Dead Instrument Cluster
im not positive on96 but the earlier ones you had to locate the security module start the car and while the car is running you unplug the security module if you unplug it without the car running it will never start

Re: Dead Instrument Cluster
Hi Im not sure how they Disabled it.Thats a little complex for me how they wire that Module in.All I know is that they took out the Alarm Module and gave it to me.But it worked ,no more alarm.Car alarms are good but too much trouble with them sometime there a pain.
