cant get 95 geo to start
Hi everybody,
I got a 95 geo metro with a 1.3 that i cant figure out whats wrong with it. I got gas to the lines leading to the throttle body, but theres no gas coming through injector. I cant hear the fuel pump kick over either, which makes me wonder if the pump isnt putting out proper pressure. Does anyone have any ideas about whats goin on. thanks, ed |

Re: cant get 95 geo to start
I am new here but you might check see if there is a fuse for the fuel pump.
Just looked at the Haynes. Looks like there is a relay under the hood, drivers side. Also when you first turn the key on you should hear the fuel pump click or buzz for a few seconds. You might have someone listen at the back near the fuel tank while you turn thr key on.

Re: cant get 95 geo to start
also pull distributor cap off and see if rotor is turning when you turn engine over. injector is triggered by pulse from distributor

Re: cant get 95 geo to start
Another test is to get a "noid light" which plugs into the wires at the fuel injector to see if it's getting power. If it comes on, and you have fuel pressure but doesn't spray fuel, the injector is bad.

Re: cant get 95 geo to start
You might want to check the fuel regulator too.

Re: cant get 95 geo to start
And you'll do this at the same time you check the pressure, with a gauge.

Re: cant get 95 geo to start
Hi sorry so long to respond but been basically too busy to mess with geo cause sister was having chemo & I was taking care of her & my niece. I tried to change pump & filter cause I couldnt hear it kick on. It did nada. I cant find a fuel pressure reg. at any of the part stores around here. They (autozone, oreillys, & a local place here) say they are unavailable. So I found a used throttle body at a junkyard here that will give me 30 day wannanty for 50 bucks. I checked the injector with test light & it lights up, so I hope the used throttle body fixes it. I pour gas down the throttle body & she fires up. Thank you for all your help.

Re: cant get 95 geo to start
Hi Outlaw,
I'm sorry to hear about the misfortunes in your family. I have two close family members and also two friends who have battled (and won) their fights with cancer. I have best wishes for you and your sister. As for your diagnostic approach, I hope that the replacement throttle body works for you. The method you're using to fix the car has a term in the industry: the "Shot Gun" method. It means to replace parts and components until the problem resolves. It removes the hassle of diagnostics, but sometimes leads us down a monetarily inefficient path because it can take multiple attempts. Keep us updated. -Matt

Did you get this figured out?
Could be the ECM/PCM Engine Computer - if you haven't found the problem yet. -Dale in Southern Idaho |

Re: cant get 95 geo to start
Hi everybody know its been almost a yr. Just took awhile for my sister to get back going she is now cancer free after them giving her six months to live. As for the metro the throttle body from the junkyard didnt work. So I got a remanufactured throttle body injector it now runs goood but to start it you have to prime it with gas or starting fluid.
