Angry 02 Grand Caravan serpentine belt squealing!

I have an 02 grand caravan with an awful belt squeal. I replaced the harmonic balancer, idler pulley, tensioner pulley and put a new belt on and it still squeals like crazy. Sprayed belt dressing on and it helped for a short time but started right back up. I don't know what else to look at so any help you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 02 Grand Caravan serpentine belt squealing!

Squealing means the belt is slipping. Some pulley that the belt is trying to spin has more resistance then the belt (at the tension) can handle. Spraying that belt stuff on will increase the belt friction for a bit but it wears off quick.

Take the belt off (if you have a 3.8 I posted a way hold the tensioner back with no effort) and try and spin every pulley, one of them is going to be have too much resistance or will be jiggly (bad bearing + under tension = high resistance).

I see you replaced the tensioner, idle, the belt, and I guess the crank pulley so that leaves the water pump, alternator, A/C compressor, and power steering pump.

Good Luck
