Spoon EK9 Civic Type R 96-98

Ok, so i am trying to get back in the hang of things since i've been up to nothing lately. Picked up two Civic Type R kits (96-98 CTR and a Spoon CTR kit) The incorrect front end of Fujimi's 99-00 Spoon Civic will be turned into something else for another project. This one should be a straight out of box build with no major mods. I will be painting the body to resemble the vogue silver metallic Civic Type R's were offered in. Wheels will be sprayed gunmetal to resemble the almighty grey Regamasters and will be left with no decals since i can't make any LOL. Instead of the Pirellis that all the Fujimi kits bring i will be using some Advan tires i had stashed away, two larger sized aprox. 235 will be up front and the other two (205) will be in the back. Spoon duckbill covered with scale motorsport CF, Spoon mirrors, decals, and spoon steering wheel will be used.

Test fitted a couple of things and tried to get the height dialed first.

Sorry for the bad pics.

I'll be drilling out the center caps

Sizing differences in the tires

Need to lower the rear just a tad bit.

Flush

Re: Spoon EK9 Civic Type R 96-98

Twinblocks and larger drilled rotors test fitted. I originally noticed a large gap between the rotor and the wheel so i was able to sandwich these existing rotors and calipers by just removing the original caliper. Now the fitment is more realistic of the caliper to rim.

I need to find a way to place the wheels on my dremel so that i can sand down the face of the spokes evenly to make it more realistic. The spokes on these molds poke out too far and have an extra groove which the 16 inch SW's don't have in real life.

Nice wheels you've got there...
so i guess you'll be doing carbon fibre bonnet as well?
how about the 'spoon' logo on the windscreen?

nice buildup!

I'm still a bit iffy about the carbon bonnet. And im not sure of how i could do the spoon banner on the front windshield, lol. So for that's out of choice

Re: Spoon EK9 Civic Type R 96-98

hey, good to see you back around here. Your honda builds were always among the best in my eyes. That track integra is so unique and cool.

As for "lathing" the wheels, here's how I do it. take a 2mm fujimi wheel axle, cut it in half, put a poly cap on it, place it in an appropriate sized collet which is 2.5mm int. dia. in your dremel, and have at it.

Nice!!! seems like it should work out fine . I can't wait to give it a try. Thanks

Hopefully i can have the body sprayed this week. Tonight i'll continue with the rear calipers and making them look a bit more realistic.

Thanks alot, where has willimo been at! LOL

Today i trimmed down the spokes on the SW's. I am very pleased! They look a million times better! Right now i'm stuck whether i should paint them as Regamasters or leave them as SW's.

Pictures will be up tonight.

haha, wassup Frank. Thanks bro,

here are the pics of the wheels. Still a bit rough around the edges. I'm soo undecided whether ashy black or white or gunmetal. I guess it will come down to when i have the car painted.

Sorry for my bad english!
