wrx power !
ey guys how much can a stock wrx(227hp model) engine take without replacing or strenthening internals? 300hp? 350? just by upgrading turbo and injectors but no internals? 400hp maybe? or are they prone to popping before that much hp? cmon scoobie gearheads gimme your comments

internal should be fine up to 450hp
I am pushing more than 300whp so far so good,,,,, like I always said to everone who wants to modify EJ20's,,,, stop all the damn power mods and get a trany swap first..... you will thank me later!

yep... like an STi tranny swap...
put more power on the OEM tranny... and you'll destroy it. it's not made for more power than it comes with. Sti gears are beefier and hold up to more power  good luck jamie  www.subiegalracing.com

You know what I never understood? A lot of the non-synchronized beefed up transmissions for the WRX say they have to do without the synchros, because there physically isn't enough space to fit thicker gears AND synchros. So how is it the STi manages 6 synchronized gears but is still stronger than the 5MT? It would seem the STi's casing must be larger, but wouldn't that present problems when swapping into a 5MT wrx?

i'm not talking about the 6-speed
swap in a nice Version 5/6 gearset from an STi/WRX and you will be good to go.... trust me on this... the rally crowd does it all the time... hope this helps Jamie
