2003 Malibu Remote Programming

I have a 2003 Chevy Malibu and I ordered a new remote for the doors off of Ebay. I want to program it to the car without having to go to the dealer. I got directions online of how to program it myself, but it did not work. They may have been for an older model. After inserting the key in and out and holding the door lock in unlock position I did not hear the three chimes the instructions indicated. Does anyone know the propper way to program the remote or does it need to go to the dealer?

Same here, tried a few procedures I found. Nothing worked.

It would be nice if there's an easy way to program a new remote,
and lock out the others I didn't get with the car.
