Tamiya Honda RA272

Hi,

It's been a while since I posted up my Honda VFR750 (almost) build.

Now it's time for Tamiya Honda RA272.

Posting on this forum got me to get my head down and almost finish a model last year, so here we go again.

So far I've been concentrating on the engine with the help of reference pictures. It's mostly accurate, but looks the part so far I think. Still more to go yet including detail painting.

I might add some metal air intakes, I'll see what I can come up with or buy. These can easily be added at any point.

Plug wires are 0.6mm coated wire and the fuel lines are 0.5mm fishing line.

Re: Tamiya Honda RA272

Nice progress so far, the piping on the engine looks pretty complicated

Re: Tamiya Honda RA272

It looks complicated, but was surprisingly easy to achieve, just a little skill and patience is needed.

The important thing is to drill all the locating holes well. I first use a pin in a pin vice (of course!) to make a very shallow guide hole, this makes drilling an accurately centred hole far more easy. I then drilled a 0.5mm hole wherever I wanted a hose or plug and expanded this to 0.6mm after painting. A couple of these the went off centre but don't show unless you look really closely. I then placed a drop super glue on the wire and pushed it in to the hole using tweezers. Each wire was added a minute later to allow the glue to dry on the previous wire. An extra drop of super glue was added on to any wire that was going to be bent at a severe angle, most of them in this case!
