1995 2.2l 5spd

hey i got a 1995 2.2l cavy with a 5spd i herd that the tranmisions caseing is not capable of handleing tons of powers. i need to know because i was planeing on porting head boreing out cyliders new cam and crankshatf turbo basicly everything poss. but i dont want to invest 3g and have my trany crapout on me so please help

personaly, if it was me and i was putting all that money into beefing up the engine, i would definatly do some tuning to the transmission, kinda like if you put a 700 horse V8 bolted to a 2 speed powerglide tranny, with a stock driveshaft, somethings going to break, and i bet a million dollars i know what its going to be of course, thats just me, i know nothing about the tranny in a stock cavalier, i might be wasting money doing that, or i might be saving time and money, you never know

With a couple hundred horsepower, an aftermarket racing tranny might be a good idea?

Maybe not the best analogy. Most PowerGlides can handle a couple thousand HP (2,000) and do so every weekend at the track.

Still, your point is well made. A properly built trans, CVs, and engine mounts are going to be important with any kind of boost.
