I've seen similar posts in the past but it bears repeating and updating.
Many of us have had "instant" transmission failure, without any warning signs.
One minute driving fine, then a BANG and thump. The result is no forward gears only reverse. It usually happens around 70,000 to 90,000 miles. Mine happened at 88,000. Some of us even followed the factory maintence schedule with reciepts to prove it.
I was told it was something to do with the "sun" gear or "planet" gear. I can't remember. I can remember the $2500.
NHTSA and
www.mycarstats.com has a ton of stories like this. (I don't work for either, just a resource)
So what's up with this? Your input, thoughts, similar stories. Is there any Ford action on this?
