Exclamation 1999 buick regal gs engine swap to na??

I CANT FIND ANYTHING CONCERNING WHAT I WISH TO DO, ONLY THE OPPOSITE WAY AROUND (RETARDED IF YOU ASK ME!!)

i just puffed the engine in my regal gs, its a supercharged 3800. im short on cash, and im NOT looking for performance!! the NA 3800 has plenty of power already, and imo is much more reliable (and cheaper) than the SC 3800.... SO...
anyone ever swapped FROM a sc 3800 TO a NA 3800? would this require changing the wiring harness?? OR can i use a regular na block and piston etc and put my heads and sc on it? my understanding is they use different pistons tho?

thanks

Re: 1999 buick regal gs engine swap to na??

The block on the SC and NA are basically the same. The compression ratio is slightly higher on the NA engine than the SC engine so that may create a slight issue when boosted however the cheapest way would be to stick with the supercharged set-up. Everything from your old engine should work on the NA block although make sure to purchase a good quality gasket set. You may want to contact ed morad at moradpartscompany.com for assistance on any parts that you may need.

Not only only are the pistons different so are the connecting rods between the L67 and L36 3800 engines. Also, you cannot use a L67 PCM (Powertrain Control) module in a NA 3800 setup.

What part(s) of your original L67 engine are puffed?

Re: 1999 buick regal gs engine swap to na??

well, i havent taken it apart yet, but it started clattering and is leaking oil BAD out the front side of the engine and running on 5 cylinders. so im ASSUMING it threw a rod out the side of block, but i havent found a hole yet. also, it has metal shavings in the oil when i pulled the dipstick. im assuming its going to need a rebuild, and assuming the block is bad as well. thats why i was thinking of doing the swap to na, or swapping at least to an na block, and re using my heads, sc, et... since a na block is much easier to find and much cheaper.
however, after posting the ad, i have found a reman s/c long block for 995 which i think is a very good deal, so if its available i might just buy that.
i plan on starting to tear it apart today sometime, so will keep posted on what i find.
