Re: no driver side power window

The window motor is probably toast. Sometimes you can hold the switch and slam the door to get it going again. You're probably going to have to replace the motor. Most just replace the whole window regulator assembly meaning the motor, cables and window rails as an assembly. I've read of some who just replace the motor brushes for a few dollars. Regulator assemblies can be had for as little as $50. Around $100+ at the dealer. Should first verify the motor is getting power using a multimeter or test light.

testing for power at motor. Is the motor grounded thru the door? two wires at motor ,does one put it up the other wire for down or is one of wires the ground?

Re: no driver side power window

One wire for up one for down. The switch just reverses direction of power through the motor. Ground is via the switch panel. Single ground for all window switches so your ground is good.

Re: no driver side power window

RIP,

I had to post a THANK YOU for the "hold the window switch down and slam the driver door" suggestion that solved my driver window problem - at least for now. I have a 2004 T&C Limited and the door locks have been intermittent and today my wife told me that the driver door window would not go down. The locks we can manage, but the window....no way. I have read other great advice here and so looked again. I turned the key to acc and sure enough the passenger window would open and close but the driver would not. I opened the door to see if the light would dim slightly when I hit the driver window switch (indicating that the switch was good), which it did. I then shut the door with the switch engaged and nothing. I was about to come back in and start pricing regulators and motors for the window. But, I thought, what have I got to lose with one more harder slam of the door. Well, wham the door closed, and the pleasant whirring sound of the window coming down ( and going back up) was heard.

THANKS, THANKS, THANKS.....again.

Brian

Re: no driver side power window

rbajjk - Happy to hear it worked for you. Most of the time it's temporary but I have read of it being a permanent fix a couple times. Hope you're in the latter group.

Re: no driver side power window

Mine did the switch and smash trick too. Lasted a few weeks, then had to replace the motor. very easy job to do and not very expensive either. I went and got a motor from the U-Pull it yard for $5.00 and it works great! I think They're around $50.00 from auto parts stores! Good Luck!
