Unhappy engine/oil gage problems

HELP! I'm extremely frustrated. My check engine light constantly comes on and off, especialy when I drive up hills, or have my foot on the gas for a long amount of time. also, the oil gage pin, goes right down to the exterme low when i apply the gas and often stays there while i'm driving... I have a 94 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer eddition please help me with some suggestions. Thanx!

Re: engine/oil gage problems

Lisa you should have the oil pressure check for good oil pressure if your pressure is good then have the oil pressure gauge sending unit changed. The ECM reads low oil pressure that is why your check engine light is coming on. If you do your work your self great if not make sure that you have a TRUSTED preson look at it. I have heard horror stories about untrustworthy people how call themselves mechanics. If you had no oil pressure or low oil pressure the engine would not be running for very long. Good luck

Re: engine/oil gage problems

I have recently my gage light coming on and the temperature go to HI and after capo seconds the light go off and the temperature go back to normal.
I'm check the oil and is low, but the computer tell me is normal. I'm add 2 qt to riched normal oil with the stick.
The coolant in the radiator look so derty, but the radiator is new. What can be the problem?
Also in the oil cap i see white color around.. I don't know what it is. Can someone help me and give me some ideas

Sorry for my english.. i'm try my best

Re: engine/oil gage problems

Does your Explorer see mostly short trips? If so, the white in the oil fill cap may just be condensation in the oil that isn't burning off due to short trips and the engine rarely getting to operating temperature.

Since you mention the radiator is new, the operation of the temperature gauge may be due to an air pocket in the cooling system that needs to work it's way out.
