99 Sunfire - Misses

I have a 99 sunfire. 2.2 automatic. has 140k on it.

I have noticed over the past several months that when idling or driving, mostly idiling... the car seems like it is missing. I cant say it does it all of the time but when it does it seems like it runs smooth for a few seconds and then shuttters a bit and then runs smooth again.

I'm wondering what my best plan of attack is.... spark plugs?? I changed them about 6-7 years ago.

Thanks

Re: 99 Sunfire - Misses

I have one of those as well, 99 sunfire; anyway I'm no expert, but I have had an occasional miss when driving (load at stoplight etc) or sometimes idling. One problem I had was the valve cover leaked, and put just enough oil on one of the plugs that it would cause the occasional miss. Changed the gasket, changed the plugs and it was fine again. The only other thing I did about 1.5 years before that was a set of spark plug wires.

Hope this helps, good luck.
