just bought another PA ultra with transmission issues, need advice

I just bought another PA ultra to bring back to life. Before I go any further I am awaiting the arrival of the car so I do not have it here yet. Here was the craigslist description of the car.

Super charged motor runs good. Color is white and the body panals are straight. Leather interior needs a good cleaning. The super charger belt and forward gears in the transmission failed at the same time. Reverse is good, and the fluid is clean and unburnt. So I assume some thing in the valve body may have stuck or the computor is preventing it from going into forward gears.

I have another 1998 that my G/F wrecked the front end on, my intentions are to see if I can fix the issues this car has, or worst case pull the transmission out of my wrecked car and put it in this car.

My question here is does this sound like a common issue or just a tranny that needs rebuilt?

What year is the one you bought, is it also a 1998?

actually, come to find out the one with the tranny problems is a 1999 the seller was mistaken. the one I had that was wrecked is a 1998. As far as I know the 2 years are almost 100% interchangeable. Please correct me if I am wrong.

As far as the major components, yes they are the same.
