Exclamation 200 headlight issues

My girlfriend bought a 200 pontiac sunfire 2 door with the 2.2 liter engine. when she first bought it the only headlights to work that i know of were the high beams. not sure aobut the day time running lights. well recently her high beams quit working too, so now no lights work. when i changed her oil and started the car up, i noticed that the daytime running lights indicator flashed in the dash a few times and clicked. can any one tell me the problem and how i can fix it for her?

Re: 200 headlight issues

There are right and left headlamp fuses, interior fuse box, not only check fuses, use a voltage tester on the circuit. Even if the fuse is good, if there is no voltage, the circuit is dead. Voltage to the headlamps is hot all the time. On and off-- high and low beams are controlled on the ground circuit. The headlamp switch is part of the ground circuit. Can the drl cause a problem, it might?

Re: 200 headlight issues

The fuse should have a bare spot over each leg. You don't need to pull the fuse, if each bare spot is hot, the fuse is good and there is voltage.
