Unhappy 88,98 Code 42///Knock sensor???

Car doesn't want to start, jerks and sputters. May start and run till gets warm. then dies and doesn't want to start again. Throws CODE 42 (Bypass or Electronic Spark Timing (EST) circuit.) All my homework leads me to think Knock Sensor is not putting out the required 8-10volts during startup or the 5v constant to ecu while running? Does this sound right?
Where is the Knock Sensor??? Book says under throttle body, but no dice?
It's a 3800 motor? HELP !!!!! ...LoL

Re: 88,98 Code 42///Knock sensor???

The knock sensor is located on the back side of the block (below exhaust manifold) about midway between the front & back side of engine. Your problem sounds more like the ICM has become heat sensitive and on it's way to going defunct.
