I have a few questins about the 99 integra LS. I might be buying one soon from a private party but its got 107,000 miles on it, and i was wonding if it had much more time left befor it breaks down. If i did buy it i was also wondering about how much it will cost to put a vtech engine in it, if that is at all possible.
thanks for the help :bandit:

I have about 115,000 miles on my LS and I have done a compression check on it and it is fine. It still pulls hard and doesn't smoke or anything!
But if you really want v-tec you are probably going to be better buying a gsr. The b18c1 motor with all the stuff need for a swap can get costly!

What exactly does a compression check do?
what does it test? and lets say you do bad on it... what are the possible replacements that you'd have to make? Thanks

Compression check tests the compression of the cylinders. If you do poorly on it the posible causes are piston rings, valve seats, and unlikely but possible head gasket or scared up cylinder walls.

u can get 'vtech' pretty easy...they make cheap phones for about 50 bucks...
j/k, gotta give u a bad time. i'd say go with the gsr, simply because from a base ur going to have more to work with. unless u want to jus make ur car an ls/vtec (which would haul balls), then i say get the gsr, an build that up. u can probably find a 99 gsr w/ less miles then that on it. i say keep up the search, but it is ur money, so u have to decide if u really do want that car.

i have a 95 gsr with 150K miles and the vtech kicks and im in the seat instantly and i havent had any problems. i would rather just look for a gsr than take a ls and put a gsr engine in it. so you could customize it more

What kind of mods are you planning? If you want to turbo I would go with the LS. If you want to go N/A then definitely do the GSR. However, despite the controversies of reliability of LS/VTEC, it is the best way to make a good horsepower and torque power band. And without a doubt will have you looking in the rear view mirror at your opponent. It has to be done correctly to have the reliability issues conquered.$$$

Im all for ridiculing people who spell VTEC wrong. If you cant spell it, you obviously dont understand what it is. If you dont understand what it is, you shouldn't be allowed to own it :P
